Networking is one of the central aspects of the ZEIT-Foundation’s international work. For this reason, we implemented a distinct event-format, which helps to strengthen relationships among former participants of the Bucerius Summer School on Global Governance. In regular intervals of around 6 months, up to 40 alumni and alumnae come together to discuss selected Governance-related topics. The event is organized by the alumni themselves, who live and work widely spread over the globe, making global metropolises, political capitals and international focal points the adequate setting for the debates.
Today, Bucerius Governance Talks are well established as an important instrument of our alumni-work. They give the opportunity to deeply immerse into regional and thematic issues, where the Summer School itself may ‘only’ offer a first orientation and formulate a problem-oriented approach. Consequently, intensive debates and the deepening of social and professional relations best describe the advantages of this type of conference. In autumn 2003, the initial symposium took place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
