For the first Reunion comprising the first five classes of the Bucerius Summer School (2001 to 2005), more than 200 former participants gathered in Hamburg. The speech on the opening dinner was given by Dr. Wolfgang Gerhard, then chairman of the Free Democratic Party of Germany. The next two days were marked by intensive discussions on the ethics of a globalized economy. Existing bonds between former participants were strengthened and new bridges built across the different Summer School classes. The Reunion was crowned by a speech given by Lord Ralf Dahrendorff, who explained his ideas on Global Governance in the 21st century.
