Bucerius Governance Talks -
Washington, D.C. (May 17-19, 2007)

At the Governance Talks in Washington, hosted by the German Marshall Fund of the United States, thirty participants discussed the topic “Divided Government and its Impact on US Foreign Policy”. The presentations and discussions focussed on new dynamics in transatlantic and international relations in the wake of the US presidential election campaign 2008. Among the speakers were Andrew Shapiro, Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Hillary Clinton, and Simon Serfaty from the Center for Strategic and International Studies as well as Greg Thielmann, Research and Analysis Director of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. The end of the Governance Talks was marked by an evaluation of the annul survey on “Transatlantic Trends” conducted by the German Marshall Fund in Europe and the US.
